Assigned<\/strong>: \u00c2\u00a0Thursday, January 31, 2019<\/p>\n

Proposal Due: Sunday,<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0February 10 by 11:59 pm.\u00c2\u00a0Email me your idea before class & present your story pitch in class. \u00c2\u00a0Your proposal should include who<\/strong> you plan to cover, what makes them interesting<\/strong> and approximately what day<\/strong> and time<\/strong> you’ll be uploading your work.<\/p>\n

Story Due: <\/strong>On deadline – during THON(February 16-18)<\/p>\n

Goal:<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0To cover a live event, on deadline, using the skills you’ve learned in class<\/p>\n

THON is always exciting. There is emotion, exhaustion, action, news. Everything you want from a big story. There are interesting characters, moments you can capture, and the story impacts thousands of people in our community.<\/p>\n

PART 1<\/h3>\n

You’ll be posting using Instagram and\/or Twitter<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0hashtag #COMMthon2019 + Time<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

  • You must use a public account.
    \nYou may not delete the posts.
    \nIf you don’t want to use your own account (or it’s private) create one for the assignment.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Start every post with the time it happened and the<\/strong> hashtag:\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>9:33am<\/span> #COMMthon2019<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Live tweet or use Instagram to\u00c2\u00a0report on THON. Don’t give us your opinions<\/strong>. \u00c2\u00a0Tell us what is happening, quote people, take photos. DON’T just say it’s crowded or not. Don’t guess what people are thinking. Report. Talk to people, get names<\/strong>, get their thoughts, describe what you see, take photos\/videos.<\/p>\n

    You need 5 (Five) posts all using the hashtag #COMMthon2019 (no hashtag no grade because we won’t see it)<\/span><\/strong>
    \nOnly appropriate, fact-based posts will count. Spelling and grammar matter. No typos.
    \nYour posts must be made real-time :: Don’t wait until later in the day. What would be the point?
    \nOne post must include video <\/strong>(see below)
    \nAll other posts must include photos AND text<\/p>\n

    Start every post with the time of day. We will publish all the social media on a timeline for the day.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    PART TWO: VIDEO\/Audio Slideshow<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    You can use the D7200 or shoot on your phone. The goal is something interesting and immediate that can be posted while people still care.<\/em><\/p>\n

    You will produce a short, 30-60 second maximum, video story related to THON.<\/p>\n

    The goal is to make a story about a person – a strong subject with an interesting THON related story.<\/p>\n

    Get a good interview and combine that with either still images or video of the person doing something – NOT posing for the camera. This is a short documentary story related to THON.<\/p>\n

    You may cover anything THON\u00c2\u00a0related including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n

    Dancers and Moralers on the floor of the BJC.\u00c2\u00a0 We do NOT have special access. If you want to be on the floor you’ll need to make your own arrangements – it is difficult to get a pass if you don’t have a connection.
    \nPeople in the stands with stories to tell – first time at THON, last time, other reasons for being there
    \nThe support staff at the BJC – who cleans the bathrooms at 3am
    \nWho can’t go to THON, Who doesn’t want to go to THON?<\/p>\n

    DEADLINE: The goal is to turn in your work as quickly as possible. We will post the work live on a running blog<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
