Your final project will use either 360 video or an AR project (or both if you are feeling lucky) to tell a compelling and interesting story about a person, subject, event, etc about a local non-profit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">We will use the techniques developed in this class to tell the story of a local non-profit or governmental service.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">Think about what kinds of stories lend themselve to 360 video or AR. What kinds of situations work best in these mediums. How can you be compelling?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">360 video must include spatial audio and interviews to drive the narrative.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">You&#8217;ll want active situations, that work in 360 degrees.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">A strong character or story arc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">Good video stories are <strong>active<\/strong>. Something must happen in your video.<br \/>\nGood video stories are <strong>interesting<\/strong>. They use natural sound, interesting visuals, smart editing, to tell the story.<br \/>\nGood video stories have a <strong>strong story<\/strong>. Take us somewhere. Show us. Reveal something we didn&#8217;t know.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Due:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wednesday, October 3rd,\u00c2\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>by 11:59 pm<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>\u00e2\u20ac\u201c \u00c2\u00a0<strong>Email me your proposal<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #888888;\">(50 points. No points if you don&#8217;t have a story. I will deduct points if your story changes after this date)<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Proposal<strong> should include specifics:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li>A one-sentence pitch &#8211; What is the story? Is there a conflict or goal?<\/li>\n<li>An expanded explanation of the story\/characters\/narrative:\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li>Who is the main character(s)<\/li>\n<li>Who else will you need to interview<\/li>\n<li>What visual opportunities are there<\/li>\n<li>\u00c2\u00a0Tell me your basic plan on what footage you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll need to shoot, who you would like to\u00c2\u00a0interview and why someone would want to watch your documentary on this subject.<\/li>\n<li>Briefly &#8216;storyboard&#8217; the project. What do you see as the visuals you will need, and how will you get them.<\/li>\n<li>Answer the question &#8216;Why should we care?&#8217;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">**Please Remember this is a journalism class. Your project must be a documentary, NOT fiction. Your subjects must be actually doing what they do &#8211; we do not pose, recreate or reenact in this class**<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Thursday<\/strong>,<strong>\u00c2\u00a0October 4th<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0&#8211; pitch story idea in class. \u00c2\u00a060 seconds to pitch your idea.\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;My story is about&#8230;and it is interesting because&#8230;&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>1st EDIT: Wednesday, October 31st by 11:59 pm<\/strong> -Turn in your entire project to that point &#8211; all raw video\/audio\/stills along with exported rough cut in Box. First Critique. Export and show the highlights of your project &#8211; best video or audio &#8211; something you&#8217;d like feedback on. You MUST have something to show for class. <strong>No longer than two minutes!<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #808080;\">(50pts) \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>2nd EDIT: Wednesday, November 14th<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0&#8211; Turn in your entire project. Critique second shoot &#8211; you should have a strong sense of your story at this point with good broll and or your interview. No longer than two minutes.\n<ul>\n<li>(<span style=\"color: #808080;\">50 points<\/span>) Turn in your entire project to that point &#8211; all raw video\/audio\/stills along with exported rough cut<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>3rd EDIT: November 28th<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0&#8211; third edit &#8211; Turn in your project by 11:59 pm. \u00c2\u00a0By this date you should have a solid audio track in place &#8211; we should hear your story unfold.\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #888888;\">(50 points)\u00c2\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Turn in your entire project to that point &#8211; all raw video\/audio\/stills along with exported rough cut<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Submit first draft of your text story (25pts)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Submit first draft of your second multimedia component <\/span><span style=\"color: #999999;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">(25pts<\/span>)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>FINAL PROJECT DUE: Wednesday, December 5th<\/strong>&#8211; Final project due &#8211; in Box by 11:59 pm, or whenever it is done BEFORE CLASS STARTS:\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #888888;\">(300 points)<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Entire Project on server plus:\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Final video<\/span> exported and on server (200 pts)\n<ul>\n<li>Hi-Res Archive, Commedia version and still image for your &#8216;poster frame&#8217;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Text story<\/span> to accompany video &#8211; this should NOT simply repeat the video content but can add details and context that didn&#8217;t fit into the video narrative.
