Shooting 360 VR video

Goal:
To practice the basic skills of using the GoPro Fusion Camera.
To consider how to best use 36o video as a storytelling tool

Assignment:

Step 1 :: a great idea

Bring an idea for class for a situation or scene or event that will make a great 360 video. We’ll vote in class and use the top vote getters for the assignment.

Then…

You work in teams of two (or maybe three) to shoot 36o video helping each other out. For this first attempt at 360 video, shoot a single scene. Edit it, and upload it.

You’ll work together at the same scene, but try and shoot different options, so you can each post your own 360 VR video.

Think of a situation that lends itself to 360 video based on our conversations.

  • Point of view
    Action
    Light
    Access
    Intimacy
    Moment
    Sound

Use the GoPro camera, and shoot a few minutes of a scene. Feel free to experiment and shoot as many different situations or moments as you want. More practice is good! And fun!

  1. Pick your best attempt and edit it to about 30 seconds in the Fusion Studio Software.
  2. Import it into Adobe Premiere
  3. Add a title and end credit
  4. Export it using the proper settings
  5. Post it to YouTube and then to the WordPress Blog
