There is a lot to be learned by looking at the work of others AND thinking about how it was created and how we respond to it.
- Look online at journalistic websites – I don’t want advertising or fine art images. Some possible links are below, but feel free to explore. In fact, I encourage it.
- Find a photo that you really like. I don’t care about the story or how exotic it is – I want photos that grab your attention, make you think, smile, cry because of how they look.
- Do some research – see what you can find out about the photographer and/or photograph.
- email the link to the image OR email me the file of the image
- PUT YOUR NAME IN THE FILE NAME OF THE PHOTO
Places to look for work: (in no particular order)
Images from the Farm Security Administration – documentary images from the Depression
The New York Times photo blog – it also has multimedia, etc. I’m looking for still photos.
Winners of last year’s Pictures Of The Year International competition
The Boston Globe’s photo blog

Magnum is a photographer’s collective. One of the great photo agencies in the world with a long long history. You can look at the work of particular photographers, explore photo essays, etc.
Or, use Google, visit your favorite newspaper or online site, explore…have fun.
