Goal:
- To practice your web skills.
- To create a portfolio of images.
- To think about the work you produced during the semester
Building a portfolio serves two purposes:
- It gives you something to show potential employers and clients (and your parents, in case they wonder what you’ve been doing here)
- It gives you something to measure yourself against – what have you accomplished compared to what you want to accomplish
You must produce a simple website (or use an existing one) to create web gallery(s) of your best work from the semester.
The galleries should include:
- You – who you are and how to contact you
- Your bio – some idea of your experience and goals as a professional
- Your resume´ – a formal presentation of your work experience
- Your best work from the semester – photos and/or videos
- 6-10 of your best images from this semester.
- Your edited version of your final photo story
- Complete and accurate captions, rewritten for the website.
- Typically this means removing the photo credit, since the whole site is yours
- Rewriting it since it is no longer a live photo, but keeping the context.
- Your photo story should include an introductory paragraph or essay. Individual captions should add to the story without repeating the same content over and over again.
We will work with WordPress.com in class. You are welcome to use other software and apps if you want
The finished website MUST be ready to view at the start of class Wednesday 4/29
