I liked the video a lot, mostly because it has a new story angle. I am a fan of The National, but I don’t listen to them as much as I used to in high school. The band of brothers and the instrument-less front man is interesting and funny. As for the 360 aspect, I liked how the producer used 360 to establish the space. We are now in upstate New York, in a barn studio. It helps to work with musicians because they usually have pleasant speaking voices for A-roll. It later takes us to the boat on the lake where the band members integrate their kids into the story. Documenting a band and breaking the rock-and-roll-lifestyle stereotype keeps me interested. I got bored toward the end when the video took us back to another concert. I wonder about the behind the scenes targeting. Is it mostly serendipitous to get certain footage on film (like when Matt is on the dock whistling, when he wakes up in the morning, when the daughter interrupts). Or maybe they are just good characters? It’s also probable that most of this just flows together in post production.
