269 – Halloween

Assigned: Thursday, October 17, 2019

Due: Monday, November 4, 2019, by 11:59 pm

Halloween It has it all. Interesting costumes and character, color, light moments.

Goal – To make a compelling photo that captures an aspect of Halloween using all the skills we’ve talked about so far this semester. Use light and the frame and composition and capture moments that says something about the holiday.

Your subjects may NOT be college students at college events – no frat parties, bars, etc. (If a college student ends up in your photo from a haunted house or trick or treating that’s ok)

You may photograph anything Halloween related between now and November 4.

Weather permitting,  State College has a GREAT Halloween parade. TBA

On the 31st kids will trick or treat between 6-8pm. There are haunted hayrides and other events all over the place.

State College Area Halloween events

State College Halloween Parade is October 27th

As usual,

A MINIMUM of 75 images and 90 minutes of shooting.

Tone and caption your best 2-4 photos.

** I would suggest if you plan to shoot at night or in a dark place either signing out a flash and the cord and/or faster lenses that let in more light. The 50 1.8 lens is great, though you’ll have to get close because it doesn’t zoom.  the 24-70 2.8 and 80-200 2.8 lenses are also much better in low light than the kit lens. The ‘kit’ lens makes shooting in low light very difficult.
