Assigned: Thursday, February 13, 2020

Due:

  • Monday, February 24 – send me your story pitch by 11:59 pm (10pts – if your idea changes you lose the pts)
  • Monday, March 2 – Rough cut due  on Box by 11:59 pm (40pts – if your idea changes after, you lose the pts.)
  • Monday, March 23rd – Final video due on Box by 11:59 pm (100pts)

Goal: Create a video with a narrative arc. (maximum length is 60 seconds)

Storytelling. It’s all about how you tell the story.

Find someone you don’t know who is passionate about what they do. No friends, relatives, members of your fraternity, team or sorority.

  • Conduct a video interview
  • Gather video ‘B’ roll – visuals and audio
  • Collect old photos or video if necessary
  • Your subject must be doing something active. You must have solid b-roll of them engaged in what they do.
  • The goal is to build this into a narrative – think about how you will construct the story.
  • Your final piece will be 60 seconds long. (not 61,62… seconds)
  • **Your subject needs to be available multiple times. After the ‘rough cut’ critique, you will need to go back and re-interview and/or re-photograph. Make sure your subject will be available!**
