269 – The HUB by day

100 points

Assigned:   Monday, January 27, 2020

Due: Wednesday, February 12, 2020 – Bring raw files to class (bring every photo you shot for the assignment)
Sunday, February 16, 2020 – images submitted on Box by 11:59 pm

What makes a good photo?  All the things we’ve talked about in class and maybe more – moment, composition, light, framing, color…

Goal: To look for the unusual in the obvious

assignment:

Go to the HUB during the day, when there is light. Look for photos beyond the ordinary:

  • Dramatic light
  • An unusual angle
  • Get closer than normal
  • Look for a strong moment

. Photos must include people. Photos CANNOT be posed.

I want you to think like a journalist, real moments, humanity, storytelling. Think beyond the obvious snapshot. It’s fine to take those photos too, but your best images should go beyond what you’ve seen before.

GET CAPTION INFORMATION: NAMES, AGES, HOMETOWNS, WHY THEY ARE AT THE HUB, ETC.

As with all weekly assignments:

  • a minimum of 75 images
  • a minimum of 90 minutes of shooting

For Class
